David Bache's Ferrari Daytona-inspired five-door hatchback. European Car of the Year 1977. Rover V8 3528cc producing 155bhp (193bhp in Vitesse with EFi). Also available with 2.0 four-cylinder 2.3/2.6 straight-six and rare 2.4 VM turbodiesel. Vitesse from 1982 was the performance flagship with 135mph and 0-60 in 7.1 seconds. Successful in touring car racing. Plagued by build quality issues. Over 300000 produced.
